THE TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY

01 / UNDERSTAND THE OPTIONS

A decision.
Made together.

The right treatment begins with what matters to you.

Your symptoms, examination and daily demands shape the plan. Surgery is one option within care that may also include activity changes, splinting, hand therapy or an injection where appropriate.

When an operation is considered, the aim is clear: understand the problem, choose a suitable procedure and plan the recovery before it begins.

THE PROCEDURE INDEX

SIX PATHWAYS / ONE CONSIDERED APPROACH

Precision, with purpose.

01
Nerve

Carpal & Cubital Tunnel Surgery

Space for the nerve. A path back to function.

Explore the pathway
Carpal tunnel releaseThe median nerve lies just beneath the transverse carpal ligament. Nine flexor tendons pass deeper within the tunnel; the carpal bones form its floor and sides. Release opens the ligament roof to reduce pressure on the nerve. Structures: Median nerve; Transverse carpal ligament; Flexor tendons (nine); Carpal bones / tunnel floor. 02
Tendon

Trigger Finger & De Quervain’s Procedures

Less catching. More freedom to move.

Explore the pathway
Trigger finger releaseThe A1 pulley is at the base of the finger near the metacarpophalangeal joint. A thickened tendon can catch as it passes beneath it. Releasing this constricting pulley allows tendon glide; the tendon is not cut. Other pulleys are retained. Structures: Flexor tendon; A1 pulley at finger base; Tendon thickening / catching; Other pulleys remain. Schematic, not to scale.FINGER SIDE VIEW / PALM SIDE BELOW1234GLIDE / ANATOMY
03
Wrist

Wrist Arthroscopy, TFCC & Ligament Surgery

A closer view. A considered repair.

Explore the pathway
Wrist arthroscopy / TFCCThe TFCC lies on the ulnar side of the wrist between the distal ulna and the ulnar carpus, supporting distal radioulnar stability. Arthroscopy uses small dorsal portals to inspect the joint. The portal marker is a conceptual surface entry, not a surgical landmark or instrument trajectory. Structures: Radius; Ulna; Carpal bones; TFCC on the ulnar side; Dorsal portal concept. Schematic, not to scale.DORSAL WRIST / THUMB SIDE LEFT12345ARTHROSCOPY / ANATOMY
04
Trauma

Fracture Fixation & Trauma Surgery

Restore alignment. Protect future movement.

Explore the pathway
Distal radius fixationA selected distal-radius fracture is shown with a palmar plate supporting the bone below the wrist joint. Screw heads sit on the plate and fixation remains within the radius; it does not cross the joint surface. Implant choice and position depend on the fracture. Structures: Distal radius; Fracture region; Volar plate concept; Joint surface remains clear. Schematic, not to scale.PALMAR PROJECTION / SOFT TISSUES OMITTED1234FIXATION / ANATOMY
05
Joint

Arthritis & Joint Reconstruction

Choose the balance that serves your life.

Explore the pathway
Thumb-base joint treatmentThe thumb carpometacarpal joint lies between the first metacarpal and the trapezium. Treatment targets this painful joint while considering thumb stability and useful pinch. Options differ between patients; the illustration does not assume a particular operation. Structures: First metacarpal; Trapezium; Thumb CMC joint; Neighbouring wrist bones. Schematic, not to scale.THUMB CMC / RADIAL SIDE LEFT1234JOINT / ANATOMY
06
Reconstruction

Tendon & Nerve Repair

Reconnect structure. Rebuild function.

Explore the pathway
Flexor tendon repairOne deep finger flexor tendon is shown on the palm side, continuing towards the distal phalanx. A selected interruption in the palm is highlighted, followed by a simplified repair concept. This is not a suture technique; protection and prescribed therapy are essential. Structures: Flexor tendon (palm side); Example interruption; Repair / continuity concept; Distal tendon attachment. Schematic, not to scale.PALMAR HAND / ONE FLEXOR PATHWAY SHOWN1234REPAIR / ANATOMY

BEFORE / DURING / AFTER

Care beyond
the procedure.

Knowing what comes next can make an unfamiliar day feel more manageable.

  1. BeforeDiscuss the diagnosis, alternatives and anaesthetic plan. Receive your own preparation instructions.
  2. On the dayConfirm the procedure and follow the team’s guidance through treatment and discharge.
  3. AfterProtect healing tissues, attend review and follow the rehabilitation plan tailored to your operation.

A CONSIDERED NEXT STEP

The right treatment starts
with the right diagnosis.

Understand your options, discuss the trade-offs and plan a recovery that fits your life.
